New battle: safeguard the future of stroke services at Whipps
16 April 2009 The Save Whipps Cross hospital campaign is shocked at the proposals to consider axing stroke services at Whipps Cross – and designate Queen’s and the Royal London for hyper-acute stroke services, including “clot-busting” thrombolysis treatment. You can download the campaign leaflet here [Word document].
The leaflet has details of the London-wide consultation around the issue. It ends on 8 May, so make sure you get your comments in. Details of where to get hold of the proposals, and how to comment, are in the leaflet – do read it: it has valuable advice on how to fill in the consultation questionnaire.
See also here for an article on the question in the Waltham Forest Guardian, which includes an interview with campaign spokesperson Charlotte Monro.

Prepare for battle: date set for consultation
29 June 2007. Public consultation on the future of Whipps Cross and King George’s Hospitals is now planned for October 2007 – originally due early this year. The strength of the campaign to save Whipps Cross took the authorities by surprise with widespread opposition to proposals that include downgrading either Whipps or King George’s or both to no more that a day care walk-in centre.
